It's Been a Long Road Trip

We're shooting on Friday. It's gonna be metal. Not really, but it will be a fun spec piece that I'm excited to show you when it's all finished. Have been working away on a treatment the past couple days for a potentially big project that would be pretty awesome. Other than that I have a meeting tomorrow with my editor to go over The Ice Cream Man to start assembling the first cut. Can't wait. That's all I have right now. Keep on pushin.

Castrol Shoot

It was a hot and sticky one yesterday, so it was a good thing we were outside all day... Had a great shoot though for Castrol Magnatec Motor Oil with some fun cast and crew as always. Check out some photos below. Should be posting the finished spot in the beginning of August.

Thats a Wrap

Yesterday marked the final day of shooting for my short documentary titled, "The Ice Cream Man". We captured the real meat of the story yesterday and it is now in the hands of the wonderful editors at ditch edit. Looking to wrap post-production by Sept. 1. Below are some BTS stills from the shoot yesterday. Very excited to see a cut of this in the coming weeks.

Lindsay Olives

I directed a spot for Lindsay Olives this past week and it is in post-production as we speak. Below is shot from on set. It was a mess of food but we got our hero shot in the bag and I am super happy with how it turned out thanks to beautiful art direction and practical effects by Phil Jones including a handmade flour blower. Can't wait to show it to you when it's done. Stay tuned.

3 Spots, 1 Day

This week Thursday is going to involve three spots being shot in a ten hour period. Originally, it was going to be one shoot, then it rather quickly evolved into three. Although it's ambitious, the nature of the spots make it very doable. I am only directing one, but producing the other two for Trent and Mark through A2F Pictures

We have a quick turnaround on these, so I look forward to sharing them with you very soon.

Trust the Olive

I'm making a spot that involves olives. That's all I know right now. The script is in the works and it should be a fun little spot. Don't worry, it won't involve anything like this...

Also the short doc I am making is still in the works. We've shot some stuff already for it, but the real meat of it will be shot later this summer. I will keep you posted as that unfolds more. Keep on keepin on.

I've Been Gone Too Long

Hey there. Did you miss me? ......Hello?

I guess not. Well, regardless I am back. Costa Rica was fantastic and I just have to say that since being back, there have been some great things happening. I am collaborating with this awesome guy named Phil Jones. http://www.phildesignart.com/ We have been creating and brainstorming some killer comedy spots that are still in the pre-pro stages, but there will be some big updates coming soon. Good to be back.

Cheers and Hugs,

Taking a Holiday

Hey all, I am heading out next week to Costa Rica for a little R&R. Hoping to shoot some cool stuff on this camera called an iPhone which should be super impressive. If anything looks cool I will post it the following week.

Have a couple more projects in the works. Share with you soon.

The Perlorian Brothers

Hey all, wanted to share a spot the Perlorian Brothers directed. They are a comedy directing duo and have been doing a lot of work most notably for Bud Light, Geico and Old Spice. I am bringing up one of their older spots for Denny's that I really enjoy because of the style of comedy they chose for it. Taking something tonally serious or dramatic and creating a comedic reveal at the end while still reflecting the brands message is really something I respect in advertising today. It's not easy or something that is done right often but when it is, it's always worth sharing. These guys have some really great stuff in this vein, so it's no surprise to me they are having huge commercial success. Enjoy.

Courtesan Au Chocalat

Who doesn't love a Wes Anderson film? The Grand Budapest Hotel was delightful and definitely the most whimsical of the Anderson canon. He will sometimes release a short film prior to the feature. This one is more of a tutorial on how to make Gustav H's favorite dessert, Courtesan Au Chocalat. It looks very healthy. Enjoy.

In the works...

Hey all. I am currently in the pre-production stages of a short documentary I'm directing. I am very excited about it because I think it's a great story.

We are working on gathering crew at this point and figuring out the logistics of the shooting schedule. Other than that, not much more I want to say about it now, but thought I should tease it.

Will keep you all posted right here as things progress.

One last thing. It will be shot in periods over the summer and look for it to be online and possibly in festivals in the fall.

Cheers and Hugs,

james
